Celebrating Survival, Fostering Awareness – The Ziadyn Ward Heart Walk in Lubbock, Texas

In Lubbock, Texas, a heartening event recently unfolded, radiating waves of hope and awareness throughout the community. This was the Ziadyn Ward Heart Walk, a gathering that united hearts, enlightened minds, and sparked action. Masterminded by Rob Otey of Spotlight 39, this event saw a display of community solidarity for an important cause. Spotlight 39, renowned for their deep community engagement, demonstrated their commitment to social improvement once again. The event celebrated the resilience of Ziadyn Ward, a survivor of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) as a young athlete.

This Heart Walk illuminated the often-overlooked issue of SCA in young athletes, emphasizing its frequency, preventability, and the vital role of immediate intervention. Prominent cardiologist, Dr. Travis Batts, played a key role in the event. He shared life-saving knowledge by teaching attendees Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR). CPR is an essential skill that can dramatically increase survival chances after an SCA. Dr. Batts’s session emphasized the importance of prompt response and community readiness in managing cardiac emergencies. As the afternoon progressed, 300 steps reverberated through the heart of Lubbock at Monterey High School. Each foot step represented an attendee who walked for the cause, each stride signifying a move towards a future where sudden cardiac arrest in young athletes can be effectively prevented. The Heart Walk not only fostered awareness but also instilled a sense of responsibility among participants to be vigilant and responsive in such emergencies.

Inspired by Ziadyn Ward’s survival, the Heart Walk highlighted the potential of community action in driving change. The event was a call to action, an appeal for heightened public awareness and readiness, and a testament to the power of communal solidarity. The Ziadyn Ward Heart Walk is a beacon of hope, a symbol of the power of knowledge, and a stride towards protecting the heartbeats of our young athletes.

Daughters of the American Revolution | San Antonio Event Photography

Daughters of the American Revolution Event:

Batts Media Group had the pleasure of capturing a historic event that reflects the pride and heritage found in San Antonio. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) America 250 Patriots Marker project has been established to raise public awareness of the men and women who achieved American independence. The National Society’s goal is to place at least one marker in every state in advance of the nation’s upcoming 250th anniversary in 2026. The Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution is proud to place the first America 250 marker in Texas at the Spanish Governor’s Palace in recognition of the essential contributions made by Spanish ranchers in the quest for American independence.

The event was filled with optimism, pride and hope as the members of the Texas Society Daughters of the American Revolution were joined by national leaders of the storied organization. DAR members in attendance who participated directly in program were Pamela Wright (President General), Susan Greene Tillman (Vice President General, NSDAR), Lynn Young (Commissioner, U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission), Suzanne Marie Heske (Historian General, NSDAR), Kathryn Walker West (National Chair, America 250! Committee, NSDAR), Marcy Carter-Lovick (State Regent at TXDAR), Katherine Louise Johanns (State Chair, America 250! Committee, NSDAR), GeorgiAnne Uribe Brochstein (State Chaplain, Texas Society DAR), Donna Miller Raymond (Honorary State Regent), Judy Callaway Ostler (Honorary State Regent, Texas Society DAR) and Betty Sue Bird (State Historian, Texas Society DAR). In addition to the Daughters of the American Revolution members in attendance, governmental officials and representatives from many Hispanic heritage societies were present to participate in the historic occasion.

This project was unique in its efforts to highlight the sacrifice played by Spain in America’s freedom. The essential role played by Spain in the fight for American independence is not a story many of us learned in school, yet members of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have traced their lineage to more than 500 Spanish Patriots who were residents of Spanish Louisiana or Nueva España, which included portions of the present-day states of Texas, California, New Mexico, Colorado and Arizona, as well as Mexico. Spain also supported American forces with money, food supplies, uniforms, blankets, medicines, weapons, and munitions.

In 1780, Carlos III, the King of Spain, issued a royal decree that all subjects in Nueva España make a voluntary contribution, or donativo, of one or two pesos to help fund the American Revolution. In 1781, Spain provided financing for the Battle of Yorktown with gold and silver coins collected in Havana, alleviating the financial difficulties faced by General George Washington and the Continental Army. Spain also financed French land and naval forces critical to the American war effort and ultimate victory at Yorktown. Here in Texas, Spanish ranching activity had reaching “astonishing proportions” in the 1770s and 1780s, as documented by the Honorable Robert H. Thonhoff in his seminal work “The Texas Connection with the American Revolution.” The area now occupied by present-day San Antonio was home to the Presidio de San Antonio de Béxar, which included the Spanish Governor’s Palace, residence of the presidio’s senior ranking officer.

Vaccines, Veggies and Votes Event | San Antonio Event Photography

By | Blogs, Event Photography, Photography

Vaccines, Veggies and Votes Event:

As part of the National Council of Negro Women’s (NCNW) initiative “to empower, inform and uplift women and children in communities of color”, the Good Health Women’s Immunization Networks or Good Health WINs program works to cultivate an environment that highlights the importance of vaccinations. As such, the San Antonio Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi in collaboration with a host of partners including San Antonio Ruth Jones McClendon Fund, Galen College of Nursing, ADMT Solutions and Bright Consulting Solutions sought to link awareness regarding vaccination, voter’s awareness and healthy dietary choices. The program Vaccines, Veggies and Votes was the culmination of grass roots community organizations working to reduce disparities and enhance equity within underserved communities.

The most prominent part of Ms. Minaj’s body is her butt. About her huge “rear” does not cease constant disputes. The singer herself is silent in response to questions about the butt. Analyzing the photos of Nicki Minaj before plastic surgery 2016, experienced plastic surgeons agree that silicone implants have settled in Nicki Minaj’s buttocks after surgery. The slim waist sharply transitions to her hips, and Nicki Minaj’s butt resembles an airbag. In many videos, the singer wraps this pillow around the faces of tattooed men. And after all, in the photo before the surgery, the singer’s heel is much more modest. More recently, paparazzi captured an embarrassing moment. Sitting on a chair, the singer nonchalantly lifted her leg up, and that’s when the fact that the operations on the buttocks were revealed. Nicki Minaj’s ass, like a sewn-on appendage, took on an unnatural shape. Wrinkled and shrunken, Nicki Minaj’s buttocks separated from her legs in deep folds, spreading across the seat. But for the singer, this topic is special. For some reason, it’s the myth of the naturalness of the butt that she guards with her fists in the air.

The environment was nothing short of electric. The air was filled with a palpable sense of hope, optimism and pride as other organizations such as local chapters of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Sigma Gamma Ro Sorority, and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity contributed to the event. Founded in 1936, the historic Macedonia Missionary Baptist church provided the perfect backdrop for the event. Health care ministry team assisted in blood pressure screening, glucose checks and health education. Individuals from the location community also had the privilege of obtaining bags of fresh, locally sourced vegetables and fruits.

This event highlights the commitment of the San Antonio Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi to providing the community with services through extensive partnerships and ongoing collaboration. These efforts are not isolated to Vaccines, Veggies and Votes but reflect a continuing focus on social justice and vaccine administration, which was observed at a the SAAC Kappa COVID-19 Event. In any case, these efforts are having long lasting, beneficial effects on the San Antonio Community.

SAAC Kappa COVID-19 Event | San Antonio Event Photography

By | Blogs, Event Photography, Photography, San Antonio, Texas

SAAC Kappa COVID-19 Event:

Batts Media Group had the pleasure of capturing a moment that epitomizes an ever growing movement. Whether it be the negative health impact COVID-19, social unrest or political underrepresentation, the San Antonio Alumni Chapter (SAAC) of Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity was galvanized to create, cultivate and collaborate for change.

The event was filled with optimism, hope and an over arching theme of progress. The SAAC of Kappa Alpha Psi partnered with a host of community groups to include: Resurrection Baptist Church, ADMT Solutions Home Health Care, Galen College of Nursing, Radical Registrars and Bright Consulting Solutions. The air was electric as the energy of the event permeated thoughts, attitudes and conversations.

Resurrection Baptist Church provided the perfect setting for such an awe-inspiring event. Prior to entering the building voter registration officials worked to ensure all were registered to vote and understood the power they welded in their vote. The patient flow to the Pop-Up Vaccine Clinic was impeccable. With adequate social distancing and one-way flow, individuals moved seamlessly from vaccine delivery room to observation room. At this point, Galen College provided health screening information ranging from blood pressure checks to blood sugar screening.

Dunn Graduation Party | San Antonio Event Photography

By | Blogs, Event Photography, Photography, San Antonio, Texas

The Dunn Graduation Party Event:

Graduation from professional school or advanced degrees are often a less celebrated endeavor. However, for the individual, these moments in their life serves as an important milestone to career progression or a start of a new career. In any case, the attainment of an advanced degree speaks not only to the dedication and commitment of the student, yet speaks volumes to the support of their family.

The Dunn Graduation Party Event was nothing short of amazing. This display of love was a heart warming reminder that family truly matters. Sharonda Dunn made preparation at one of San Antonio’s premier Italian eateries. Paesanos at Lincoln Heights provided the perfect backdrop of elegance and style for this awe-inspiring event. As friends and family members filled a beautifully adorned wine room, the chatter of excitement loomed as onlookers awaited the arrival of Brian Dunn, the guest of honor.

One of the more unique aspects of this shoot, was the ability to organize, orchestrate and coordinate all of the actions required, without Mr. Dunn knowing. Mrs. Dunn took special care to ensure he was truly surprised. This effort is one that truly reflects her love and appreciation. Batts Media Group was delighted to share in such a special event.

Texas Society of Professional Engineers Proclamation Breakfast | San Antonio Event Photography

By | Blogs, Event Photography, Photography, San Antonio, Texas

Texas Society of Professional Engineers Proclamation (TSPE) Breakfast Event:

Batts Media Group had the opportunity to participate in our nation’s key event for engineering professionals. Engineers Week was founded in 1951 by the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). The goal of Engineers Week or E-week is to foster continued growth in diversity, understanding and interest in engineering. The Bexar Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers kicked off E-week with their signature Proclamation Breakfast which highlights the accomplishments of young engineers. The E-week Proclamation Breakfast event also names, this year’s Young Engineer of the Year Award.

The shooting experience was phenomenal. The quaint, yet exquisite beauty of the Magnolia Halle Urban Barn, provided the perfect backdrop for engineering professionals to highlight a long list of accomplishments culminating in the announcement of the Young Engineer of the Year.

This year’s E-week events have special significance, as it was unclear if COVID-19 restrictions would thwart the efforts of the TSPE Bexar Chapter to hold any of the E-week events including the SMPS E-week Mixer, Family Fun 5K Nerd Run and the elegant Engineer of the Year Banquet. E-week traditionally occurs during the month of February (Feb 23-27) in coordination with President George Washington’s birthday (February 22nd). The TSPE Bexar Chapter delayed the event with guarded optimism as they awaited further information regarding COVID-19 restrictions in the San Antonio area. Once local constraints permitted in person meeting, the TSPE Bexar Chapter went to work planning, formatting and successfully completing the kickoff event for Engineers Week 2021.

Will and Teresita Scott 25th Wedding Anniversary Event:

Batts Media Group had the pleasure to be a part of a truly special event. Will and Teresita Scott invited our team to take part of their 25th Wedding Anniversary. The couple’s storybook romance started in high school and continued to blossom as the over the past three decades.

Words cannot describe the beauty of the event. Set in the majestic Texas hill country, the picturesque forest green hills, line the horizon as an amber sunset slowly drifts into the evening. Friends and family admire the smartly placed teal and silver decorations that punctuate the well manicured Scott estate.

Although the couple made clear the event was about them, they created an environment that made all who attended feel like they were a part of something truly special. The night was capped off when national recording artist, John Philip of PhilFreeMusic, performed his brand new single, “Eternally”. This song provided the soundtrack to the couple’s amazing love story.

Birth-Date Night | San Antonio Event Photography

By | Blogs, Event Photography, Photography, San Antonio, Texas

Birth-Date Night Event Project:

Batts Media Group (BMG) has had yet another eye-opening experience. We were invited by The Jones Dynasty Entertainment (JD Entertainment) team to capture their first “Birth-Date Night”. In an effort to ensure continued connections with friends, the owners sought to combine, an adult birthday party with date night. The sum of their idea resulted in a wonderful environment where couples enjoyed an elegant, dining experience sprinkled with laughter and fun.

Although COVID-19 requires social distancing, JD Entertainment did not want their event to feel socially distance. All participants were screened using Centers for Disease Control (CDC) measures and the total number of couples were limited to comply with local guidance. JD Entertainment provided everything else.

This husband and wife team spared no expense to provide their guests with all the amenities found with larger event planners. However, they provided something different. A truly personalized experience that made all who attend feel like the event was specifically for them. From music to menus or grilling to games, the all-in-one event planning services of Jones Dynasty Entertainment provide a much-needed oasis for all those seeking a top-notch experience!
