Col. Kevin Steel Military Retirement Event Photo Shoot:

Military service is an opportunity to build relationships and truly develop into a leader. Batts Media Group was given a rare opportunity to experience one of the most heralded events in a military member’s career, retirement. From the posting of the colors to the final salute, the celebration of service is an awe-inspiring occurrence.

Col Kevin E. Steel served his country admirably in the United States Air Force. As a member of the medical corps, he provided life saving care to thousands of military service members and their families. From his early service as an internist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, he exhibited a dedication to patient care. Col Steel returned to training to further his clinical expertise and completed a cardiology fellowship. After the completion of fellowship, he returned to formal military service as a staff cardiologist. During this time, he has been deployed to Afghanistan, Iraq and Oman. His desire for both excellence and lifelong learning prompted him to seek further specialty training in advanced cardiac imaging at Harvard University. After expanding his training, he returned to Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center, where he served as the 59th Medical Wing Science and Technology Deputy Chief Scientist.

Coder Dojo Collaborative Event Photo Shoot:

Batts Media Group was delighted to capture the completion ceremony of San Antonio Coder Dojo Collaborative. The San Antonio Coder Dojo Collaborative is an innovative program that facilitates an engaging learning environment that centers around the development of critical thinking and coding. Technical mentors teach youth 7-17 years old coding platforms such at Scratch, JavaScript, Python and Raspberry Pi The program also helps to develop vocational skills in Cyber Security, Game Design, and App Development. Watch this amazing group of kids do great things.

This year’s event was capped with intricate presentations on cyber security and app development. The keynote speaker, Dr. Travis Batts, challenged the audience to appreciate the true meaning of C.O.D.E. (Creating Opportunity by Delivering Excellence). The quality of the products the students was only overshadowed by the pride that was reflected in the eyes of parents and mentors alike.

Macedonia MBC Anniversary Celebration Project:

Batts Media Group had the pleasure of capturing a major milestone in the history of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Jerry William Dailey celebrated his 34th pastoral anniversary. Under his leadership, the church as flourished adding can educational center and expanding membership. Pastor Dailey’s “love intentional” mantra has made both he and Macedonia a beacon of hope for the lost in San Antonio and surrounding areas.

The anniversary celebration extended over 4 weeks highlighting many of the individuals and groups that have made Macedonia unique. From its children’s ministry, with their expressive dance to women’s ministry, who honored Sis. Dailey, Pastor Dailey’s wife, for her continued support of the Pastor. The festivities were punctuated by the angelic sound of the Macedonia Mass Choir, lead by recording artist, John Stevens. The stage is always set for a move of power, a move of purpose and a move of praise!

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church will be embarking on a new journey. The “Bigger and Better” Movement will serve as a spiritual marker as the church moves to re-affirm its desire for community engagement through faith building and fellowship. Many new and exciting ideas abound to include, The Jeremiah Project (a church lead tutoring program), First Wednesday Family Nights and the largely anticipated, Candlelight 2019, a celebration of praise!

Tucker Retirement Ceremony Project Overview:

Military retirement is an all important step in the lives of a military member. After serving ones country in both times of peace and war, all service members must reach a point when they must decide to transition from a life that has become all too familiar. This shoot represents a culmination of emotions, ranging from both gratitude to relief and finally accomplishment, from the honor of serving ones country.

Lt Col Andre V. Tucker served his country for 24 years as a commissioned officer. In this capacity, he ascended to the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer of the US Army North. Despite his extensive business background, he saw combat with the 4th and 2nd Infantry as well as serving as company commander of one of the most decorated Army divisions our country has ever seen, the 82nd Airborne Division. He service has taken him to Korea, Kosovo and the Middle East, where his work was central to the success of these missions.

The mood during the event was mixed. It varied in maintaining the military customs and courtesies required to fulfill the grandeur of such an awe-inspiring moment to a more colloquial, welcoming time for friends and family to meet. All who attended recognized and appreciated the service and sacrifice that Lt Col Tucker made to his country. However, no somber commentary overshadowed the joy expressed by his loved ones on his progression and evolution into civilian life.

It is seldom that a civilian gets the opportunity to witness many of the procedures seen in the military. Unless one is closely affiliated or a military member themselves, this mysteries are often uncovered and exist only in the heart and minds of those who attend.
