LaBelle Expressions Evening Wear | San Antonio Photography

La Belle Expressions Project:

LaBelle Expressions has done it again! After taking the market by storm with KiKi’s Closet, a collection of fashionable children’s attire, they moved into a realm of shear elegance. This colorful, charismatic line echoes independence and courage, as it breaks free from the bounds of traditional evening wear. Gone are the days of predictability as the LaBelle Expressions team challenges the norms with is new line.

Juxtaposed against the backdrop of the San Antonio, Japanese Tea Gardens, the shoot took on a mind of its own. While the smartly designed architecture beckoned for a more simplistic time, the contrasting colors and lingering moods, forced ones mind into visual kaleidoscope, only calmed by the rhythmically flowing gowns. As gentle winds, soothed the surrounding emerald pools, the soft whispers of a distant waterfall captured our ears. Our eyes were entranced, as the unwittingly subtle influence of the gowns, pulled our attention away from our surroundings. Capturing all thought and predetermined ideology of evening wear, only to allow our minds to be liberated to construct a monument of perfection.

Macedonia MBC Anniversary Celebration | San Antonio Event Photography

Macedonia MBC Anniversary Celebration Project:

Batts Media Group had the pleasure of capturing a major milestone in the history of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Pastor Jerry William Dailey celebrated his 34th pastoral anniversary. Under his leadership, the church as flourished adding can educational center and expanding membership. Pastor Dailey’s “love intentional” mantra has made both he and Macedonia a beacon of hope for the lost in San Antonio and surrounding areas.

The anniversary celebration extended over 4 weeks highlighting many of the individuals and groups that have made Macedonia unique. From its children’s ministry, with their expressive dance to women’s ministry, who honored Sis. Dailey, Pastor Dailey’s wife, for her continued support of the Pastor. The festivities were punctuated by the angelic sound of the Macedonia Mass Choir, lead by recording artist, John Stevens. The stage is always set for a move of power, a move of purpose and a move of praise!

Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church will be embarking on a new journey. The “Bigger and Better” Movement will serve as a spiritual marker as the church moves to re-affirm its desire for community engagement through faith building and fellowship. Many new and exciting ideas abound to include, The Jeremiah Project (a church lead tutoring program), First Wednesday Family Nights and the largely anticipated, Candlelight 2019, a celebration of praise!

LaBelle Expressions | San Antonio Photography

La Belle Expressions Project:

The La Belle Expressions project started as an idea. The idea that a mother, who desired to expand her fashion options, could conceive an idea, cultivate a business plan and develop an international distribution strategy. The shoot was set in the upscale Eilan Hotel & Spa, one of San Antonio’s premier locations. The location is smartly placed in close proximity to both La Cantera and the Rim shopping complex. The soft pastel colors of the buildings create the perfect backdrop against the deep blue south Texas sky. The deep red brick streets are interrupted by the geometric interaction of deep, steel railroad tracks. The cascading fountain provides a cooling mist as a breeze delivers the aroma blossoming flowers and culinary creativity in this hill country oasis.

The shoot flowed smoothly as the model quickly became soothed by the setting of the Eilan Hotel & Spa landscape. As birds chirped and soft sounds of light jazz played over the speakers, a sense of relaxation and accomplished consumed all of watched. The rapid clothing changes only enhanced the intrigue that surrounded the shoot, as all waited patiently to see what new creation, La Belle Expressions would serve to captivate our eyes and engage our emotions.

Having the ability to observe clothing changes, elevate the body, the mind and the soul of an individual is a powerful reminder of how our appearance cultivates our attitude. If one could encapsulate one word to summarize the experience, POWERFUL!

Tucker Retirement Ceremony | San Antonio Event Photography

Tucker Retirement Ceremony Project Overview:

Military retirement is an all important step in the lives of a military member. After serving ones country in both times of peace and war, all service members must reach a point when they must decide to transition from a life that has become all too familiar. This shoot represents a culmination of emotions, ranging from both gratitude to relief and finally accomplishment, from the honor of serving ones country.

Lt Col Andre V. Tucker served his country for 24 years as a commissioned officer. In this capacity, he ascended to the position of Deputy Chief Financial Officer of the US Army North. Despite his extensive business background, he saw combat with the 4th and 2nd Infantry as well as serving as company commander of one of the most decorated Army divisions our country has ever seen, the 82nd Airborne Division. He service has taken him to Korea, Kosovo and the Middle East, where his work was central to the success of these missions.

The mood during the event was mixed. It varied in maintaining the military customs and courtesies required to fulfill the grandeur of such an awe-inspiring moment to a more colloquial, welcoming time for friends and family to meet. All who attended recognized and appreciated the service and sacrifice that Lt Col Tucker made to his country. However, no somber commentary overshadowed the joy expressed by his loved ones on his progression and evolution into civilian life.

It is seldom that a civilian gets the opportunity to witness many of the procedures seen in the military. Unless one is closely affiliated or a military member themselves, this mysteries are often uncovered and exist only in the heart and minds of those who attend.

MJ Graduation Shoot | San Antonio Lifestyle Photography

MJ Graduation Project Overview:

The shoot started slowly, as MJ was reluctant to truly embrace his creative side with Batts Media Group’s production team. San Antonio’s historic Pearl Brewery created the perfect backdrop for both a sophisticated shoot with cityscape overtones coupled with flashes of color and a rustic, pastoral mood with slow flowing waterfalls and a lazy river. Given our clients misgivings regarding the photo shoot we initiated a special process to ensure all clients can feel comfortable to express themselves.

This process, although not unique to what we do, has transformed shoot from mundane to marvelous, awkward to awe-inspiring and boring to beautiful. In a sense, we place the client, at least mentally, behind the camera. When we asked MJ, “how would you like to recreate yourself?”. A smile can over his face which permeated the remainder of the shoot. On lookers watched, as we all experience the evolution of MJ, captured in camera.

Faith & Hope Forte | San Antonio Lifestyle Photography

Faith & Hope Forte Project Overview:

Imagine an elated little girl in a new world of wonder and opportunity with her watchful parents carefully attending to her every need. This commentary yields brief insight into the nature of the Forte photo shoot. As the sun echoed off of the smartly contrasted rocks a little girl brightened an already jovial mood with pleasant outbursts of laughter. Her delight was in the natural playground provided by San Antonio Botanical Garden.

Small log cabins with child sized brooms, jogs and other oddly placed trinkets boarded a well traveled gravel walk way. As she ran from cabin to cabin, searching for new treasure, Batts Media Group was there to capture every moment. Her happiness was further illuminated when she was introduced to a softly flowing brook and small waterfall. The San Antonio Botanical Garden provided the perfect backdrop to create a canvas of joy, colored by laughter, Hope and Faith.

Unique Places in San Antonio: The Rollercade

Kicking off our new photography series, Unique Places in San Antonio, Batts Media Group visited The Rollercade. Since the 1950s the Rollercade has provided generations of families with roller-skating, thumping music and plenty of bruised knees.

Originally Northporte Rollercade, its name was shortened in 1984. San Antonio’s premiere roller-skating facility seems to be frozen in time with its heavy 70s roller disco theme, complete with neon lights and trippy magic carpet day-glo swirls. Even the iconic sign out front, designed by Lionel Sosa in 1958, sports five huge brightly lit neon circles spelling ”SKATE.” Besides offering public skating, the Rollercade also provides private lessons and parties for young and old alike.

We had a blast photographing visitors and hearing stories about local skating greats including Stan the Man and Bron Savage. Take a look at the gallery below and stop by the Rollercade for good vibes and a roll around the rink.

Debutante Jamilla Dorsey | San Antonio Event Photography

Debutante Jamilla Dorsey Project Overview:

Jamilla Dorsey was introduced as a debutante by the Van Courtlandt Social Club Auxiliary. The Van Courtlandt Social Club is one of San Antonio’s oldest historically black social clubs. The Van Courtlandt Social Club was founded in 1915 and is the second oldest social club in the United States that presents Debutantes without cost. The club started with an original 15 members and grew over the subsequent years. The Van Courtlandt Social Club Auxiliary has a very special job of the selection of an annual Debutante Coteria.

The event was a gala affair. The evening started with a receiving line where guest were given their first glimpse of prior debutantes and this year’s selection, Jamilla Dorsey. The receiving line was a prelude to an awe inspiring evening that produced gleeful optimism as Jamilla Dorsey revealed grace, beauty and professionalism. The subtle overtones of the theme, “An Evening At Tiffany’s”, created the prefect backdrop for an environment of elegance. The history and pageantry of this annual event was only rivaled by the glorious one-hundred and four year history of the Van Courtlandt Social Club.
