Lil’ Mike’s Newborn Baby Photo Shoot:

Batts Media Group had the unique opportunity to be the first photographers to capture the excitement of infant photos. From facial expression, cooing and the occasional tear, infant photography relies on patience, imagination and timing. The balance of these elements provides the perfect backdrop for beautiful images.

Words cannot describe the roller coaster of emotions for both the mother and family members as the shoot evolves. A new facial expression is followed by sounds of surprise, awe and optimism. These emotions are only overshadowed by the infant’s reluctant curiosity shown best in his or her eyes. This precocious three-month old enjoyed the lights and his radiant personality provided the perfect context to capture the emotion of the moment. A wonderful experience!

MJ Graduation Shoot | San Antonio Lifestyle Photography

MJ Graduation Project Overview:

The shoot started slowly, as MJ was reluctant to truly embrace his creative side with Batts Media Group’s production team. San Antonio’s historic Pearl Brewery created the perfect backdrop for both a sophisticated shoot with cityscape overtones coupled with flashes of color and a rustic, pastoral mood with slow flowing waterfalls and a lazy river. Given our clients misgivings regarding the photo shoot we initiated a special process to ensure all clients can feel comfortable to express themselves.

This process, although not unique to what we do, has transformed shoot from mundane to marvelous, awkward to awe-inspiring and boring to beautiful. In a sense, we place the client, at least mentally, behind the camera. When we asked MJ, “how would you like to recreate yourself?”. A smile can over his face which permeated the remainder of the shoot. On lookers watched, as we all experience the evolution of MJ, captured in camera.

Faith & Hope Forte | San Antonio Lifestyle Photography

Faith & Hope Forte Project Overview:

Imagine an elated little girl in a new world of wonder and opportunity with her watchful parents carefully attending to her every need. This commentary yields brief insight into the nature of the Forte photo shoot. As the sun echoed off of the smartly contrasted rocks a little girl brightened an already jovial mood with pleasant outbursts of laughter. Her delight was in the natural playground provided by San Antonio Botanical Garden.

Small log cabins with child sized brooms, jogs and other oddly placed trinkets boarded a well traveled gravel walk way. As she ran from cabin to cabin, searching for new treasure, Batts Media Group was there to capture every moment. Her happiness was further illuminated when she was introduced to a softly flowing brook and small waterfall. The San Antonio Botanical Garden provided the perfect backdrop to create a canvas of joy, colored by laughter, Hope and Faith.

Devera-Waden Family Project Overview:

The Devera-Waden family were in anticipation of the departure of their son to college. They desired to capture the subtle moments together during a day at the Eilan Hotel in San Antonio Texas. They walked the cityscape with gleeful smiles and excitement. The pastel buildings provided the perfect backdrop to accentuate the levity of the mood.

The shooting experience is often predicated on the interaction of the models. In this case, the effervescent smile were a constant reminder of the pleasure the family shared spending time together. Despite the longing for togetherness, the Mr. and Mrs. Devera-Waden shared special moments unique to their relationship immortalized in the images.

This project was unique in that despite all having different reason to desire family portraits, they unified on the hope that these images would provide lasting memories for them to share for years to come.

Christian’s First Birthday | San Antonio Children’s Portraits

Christian’s Birthday Project Overview:

The Prather shoot provided a unique look into an opportunity to capture the moments of an energetic 1 year old. As we followed this precocious preschooler around his home, his actions were chronicled in pages of our minds with the images we obtained.

Family portraits, or better stated, lifestyle photography in young children is often filled with challenges. When photographing young children we utilize the 3 P’s, PARENTS, PROPS AND PLAY. These techniques lead to capturing unrehearsed, natural scenes.

Using strategies to keep him in a familiar environment, engaging the parents and most importantly, making the shoot fun, kept him engaged adding to the success of the shoot. This shoot provided new elements that yielded stunning once in a lifetime images that the family will view long after the shoot. His inquisitive nature and overall comfort in front of the camera are rare attributes that are seen in shoots with much older participants.

Batts Family Christmas | San Antonio Family Photography

Batts Family Project Overview:

The Batts Family Christmas Photos was a family portrait shoot at the San Antonio Botanical Gardens. They are a family of five with unique and variable ideas regarding the shoot. Although the goal of the shoot was a family photo shoot, multiple individual mini-shoots were included to add both depth and variance to the shoot. The pace of the shoot allowed for independent artistic variability of both the photography team and the subjects. The shoot concluded at the historic Hays Street Bridge. At this location, we were able to get beautiful shots with the lovely San Antonio skyline in the background.

Multiple features set this shoot apart from others. The variable locations Hays Street Bridge and botanical gardens. The botanical gardens creates an autumn themed backdrop with fall colors reflecting off of a quaint lake. The rustic images are not frequently seen in South Texas. This pastoral background of this portion of the shoot was juxtaposed again the harsh contrasting lines of Hays Street Bridge, yielding a different photographic theme.
